I've always had difficulties remembering things verbatim. What are some tips to memorizing my GO's and Sailors Creed?

Repetition.

If you don't know them wen you ship, you will always have your nose in the trainee book studying them.

This is what I learned for the 11 general orders: http://i41.tinypic.com/2ep7dwh.jpg

Sailor's Creed? Say over and over again.

There's really no shortcut method. Just write one order at a time, until you can memorize them verbatim. Then memorize them according to their number. Same thing for the sailors creed, just write out one sentence, and add another until you can never get it wrong.

Also, youtube videos help to get some rhythem to memorizing them.

Whats the 7 order the sentry? To talk to no one except in the line of duty.

Sailors creed? I am a united states sailor, I will support and defend the constitution of the united states and obey all orders of those appointed over me. I represent the fighting spirit of the navy, to defend freedom and democracy around the world. I proudly serve my navy combat team with honor courage and commitment. I am committed to excellence and fair treatment of all.

Go to boot camp, they'll make sure you know them before you leave. Don't waste what precious freedom you have on shit they're going to drill into your skull for 8+ weeks.

There were people that graduated without knowing them.

We had a challenge in our division to do all of the GOs, the entire COC, and the FPcons to go to Recruit Heaven... and almost no one could manage even the GOs, verbatim.

Don't do them all in one day, and write them down a bunch of times.

Once I write them down about 10-15 times I make sure I can say them backwards then forwards or else I keep writing until I can.
